Original language description
Because of the long term use of woody perennial fruit crops, it is important to start with clean material, which can be reliably obtained only through certification schemes. In the Research and Breeding Institute of Pomology (RBIP) Holovousy Ltd., located in the Czech Republic, production of virus-free propagation stock of apple, pear, plum and cherry trees was conducted according to the certification schemes (EPPO 2001a, EPPO 2001b, EPPO 2001c) between 2002-2012. As a result, a total of 1598 virus freefruit trees were tested on woody indicators. A total of 140 apple trees were tested, using Virginia Crab, Golden Delicious, Lord Lambourne, R 12 (or Malus platycarpa) and SPY 227 indicators. A total of 21 varieties of virus free apple trees were obtained. A total of 58 pear trees were tested, using Pyronia veitchii and Beurré Hardy indicators.
