Effectiveness of potential products to reduce rain cracking of cherry fruit
Original language description
Seven products were applicated before harvest in 2013 and 2014 at the Research and Breeding Institute of Pomology in Holovousy (Czech Republic) for evaluation of their potential to reduce cherry (Prunus avium) fruit cracking caused by rain. Products Actisil, Boronia, Borosan, Gibb 3, Platina, Agrovital and Frutrel were tested on sweet cherry cultivars ‘Amid’, ‘Burlat’, ‘Justyna’, ‘Kasandra’, ‘Kordia’, ‘Regina’, ‘Sweet Early’, ‘Tamara’, ‘Těchlovan’ and on the new hybrid HL 13 577 by single application or in their combination. Product Gibb 3 helped the most decrease rain cracking by 9 - 11 % on cultivars ‘Justyna’, ‘Tamara’ and ‘Regina’ in comparison to the control. On cultivars with lower flesh firmness (‘Sweet Early’, ‘Burlat’) were not recorded differences between tested products.
