All S-alleles in one run: A new tool for the identification of S-alleles in sweet cherries

  • Original language description

This poster and short oral presentation introducing it were presented on the 1st International Symposium on Reproductive Biology of Fruit Tree Species, November 8 to November 10, 2021 -- entirely digital virtual format (https://symposium.inrae.fr/reproductive-biologyfruittree) . There was introduced a novel all-in-one kit enabling to identify all most frequent cherry S-alleles, including self-compatible ones in only one PCR and fragment analysis run. The kit covers the following alleles: S1, S2, S3, S4, S5, S6, S7, S9, S12, S13, S14, S22, S23, S24, S25, S28, S30, S34; and self-compatible alleles S3´, S4´, S5´. The kit also enables identification of MGST gene promoter insertion that is associated with cherry (partial) self-compatibility. This S-allele detection kit is highly specific and reliable, and saves labor, time and cost of the analysis. It can be used for routine S-allele identification, and it is especially suitable for analyses of cherries with unknown genotypes or free pollination selections.
