An Overview of Approaches to Measurement of Tourism Impacts
Original language description
Tourism is one of the most significant sectors in the world economy. World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) presents that tourism makes up nine percent of global GDP, talking about direct, indirect and induced effects (UNWTO, 2013). Tourism is the sector ofthe economy which is able to bring many effects not only from the economic point of view but also from the social and environmental ones. It is very difficult to measure tourism impacts due to a very high sensitivity to changes and due to very dynamic changes in this sector. There are plenty of approaches and tools how to measure tourism impacts used by national, regional and local administrations. This paper covers several of them with the evaluation of their possible use in the Czech conditions, for example Tourism Satellite Account, Local Area Tourism Impact model, Local Tourism System.
