The evaluation of corrosion damage of galvanized tubes for hot water distribution
Original language description
Property damage caused by failure of pipe systems are very serious from point of view of insurance companies and the reasons of failure of distribution systems made from metallic materials may be the unsuitable design, assembly or operation of system. New distribution systems are usually equipped by automatic heating exchangers and water temperature is relatively exactly controlled at range 50 ? 55?C even for decreasing the energy cost. On the contrary the water chemistry is analysed only sporadically. The cross sections of galvanised tubes in various stages of corrosion attack had been done together with corrosion products analysis. The performed test showed the effect of water chemistry has significant influence on corrosion of galvanized steel and that this effect increased with increasing temperature.
