Influence of fluoride, pH, antibiotics and gelatine on corrosion behavior of biomaterials
Original language description
Exploitation metal materials in medicine means increased requirements on their properties. First is concerned on material stability in human organism. This paper deals with corrosion behavior of three type stainless steels, Co-Cr alloy and Ti grade 2 insaline solution with fluoride and saline solution with gelatine and antibiotics. The polarization resistance and the susceptibility of materials to non-uniform corrosion were measured. The results demonstrate that the effects of the fluoride on the corrosion behavior of stainless steels and Co-Cr alloy are not very striking. In the case of titanium material, the more acidic is the corrosion environment, the more sensitive the materials become to the presence of fluorides. The addition of gelatine into the solution has positive effect on corrosion resistance of stainless steels. The presence of gentamycin sulfate had positive effect on corrosion behavior of stainless steel with high nitrogen content.
