    Zinc coatings lifetime on the road infrastructure structures

  • Original language description

    Currently zinc and zinc coatings lifetime is relatively high depending on their thickness in normal atmospheric environment in the Czech Republic. One of the specific corrosion environment is surroundings of roads where the impact of increased emission concentrations and deicing salt occur. On the basis of performed exposure tests the corrosivity in surroundings of roads on open atmosphere was estimated in category C3 and in ?shelter? positions of structures was estimated even in C5 and CX. The zinc coatings´ lifetime is 5 times reduced i.e., the lifetime of zinc coating with thickness 75 ?m is only 8 ? 10 years in environment of roads.
