Original language description
The paper contains results of an experimental investigation of surface and near sub-surface residual stresses induced by shot peening of fairly thin plated sheets of a V-95 aircraft Al-alloy. Longitudinal residual stresses in the subsurface location wereas expected of the compressive type, but surprisingly low, no more than several tens of MPa. Nevertheless the shot peening effect on initiation and growth of physically short fatigue crack was significant.
