Creep Behaviour and Microstructural Evolution in AISI316LN Steels with Niobium Additions
Original language description
The creep resistance of austenitic CrNi(Mo) steels strongly depends on their microstructural stability during creep exposure. Nitrogen additions to CrNi(Mo) austenitic steels can significantly improve the creep strength. One of the most successful methods of improving the long-term creep resistance of austenitic steels is based on increasing the extent of precipitation strengthening during creep exposure. This can be achieved by small additions of strong carbide and nitride forming elements. The role ofprecipitates in the achievements of good creep properties has been extensively studied for a long time. Although many minor phases are now well documented there are still contradictions and missing data about some minor phases in nitrogen bearing stabilised austenitic steels.
