The developmental competence of bovine oocytes collected from donors at various stages of the estrous cycle and fertilized in vitro was different on Days 7 and 14, 8 and 15, 9 and 16 and on Days 19, 20 and 2. The percentages of oocytes that developed into blastocysts on Day 8 were: 11.9 vs 20.0 ; 13.2 vs 30.5 ; 20.8 vs 29.8; and 11.7 , 4.4 and 16.9 respectively.
