Renaissance and Baroque Glass from the Central Danube Region
Original language description
Typology of archaeological glasses found in refuse pits provides critical information about aesthetic values and production of glass in the individual historical periods. Chemical analyses provide additional information about technological progress of the society at the given location and time. Analyses of a big set of glass samples from the Danube region (Moravia, Vienna and today´s Hungary) thus made it possible to identify three changes in the production technology in the period from the middle of 16th and 17th centuries to the turn of the 17th and 18th centuries. More interesting information is summarized at the end of the chapter about goblets and beakers from the Danube region.
