CADMIUM AND LEAD UPTAKE FROM CONTAMINATED SOILS BY FODDER MALLOW
Original language description
The uptake of cadmium and lead from contaminated soils by fodder mallow (Malva verticillata L.,) was monitored within the period of 2009 ? 2010 in a pilot field experiment established in the locality Domanínek (Czech Republic). Simultaneously, effects ofapplied compost and Bio-algeen preparations on the uptake of heavy metals by fodder mallow were followed as well. The locality Domanínek is situated in a potato-growing region at the altitude of 560 m. In this locality, the average annual temperature and the total sum of precipitations are 6.5 oC and 651 mm, respectively. The experiment was established in four variants: Variant 1 ? a low degree of soil contamination without any application of other substances; Variant 2 ? an intermediate degree of contamination + compost application; Variant 3 ? a higher degree of soil contamination + compost application; Variant 4 ? a higher degree of soil contamination + compost application + application of Bio-algeen preparation.
