Influence of Seed Rate on Canopy Structure of Tufty Rye (Secale cereale, var. Multicaule). We evaluated the influence of seed rate on canopy structure of tufty rye (Secale cereale, var. multicaule), cultivar Lesan. Three seeds rate (80, 160, 200 kg per hectare) were tested in two years trials. Number of plants per m(2) (112-175 pcs) depended on seed rate as well as number of ears (536-900 pcs). Stem height, ears length and thousand kernel weights were statistically influenced by year of growing only. The relationships between selected traits were determined by correlation analysis. We found positive relationship between grain yield and number of tillers (0.65). The positive correlation was always found between ear length and number of grain per ear (0.84). Number of tillers and number of ears per square meter was in strong correlation (0.96). We can conclude that tufty rye, cv. Lesan, prefers lower seed rates with long tillering period to achieve the higher number of ear per m(2).
