LTO Problems of the WWER 440/213 Reactor Core Barrel
Original language description
The couple key-groove in the lower part of the reactor pressure vessel and the core barrel, see Fig.1, is in normal operation conditions loaded by the force of the order of kN. Relative axial and radial motion induced by the pressure pulsations generated by the main circulation pumps result in potential fretting wear. The design value of the gap between the key and the groove range from 0.05 to 0.17 mm. Due to fretting wear the potential for increasing of the gap exists as a result of long time operation. From the point of view of safety operation there are two main questions: - is it possible to predict fretting wear? - does diagnostic symptoms of this phenomenon exist? Presented at 9th International Scientific and Technical Conference “Safety Assurance of NPP with VVER” (ISTC-2017), May 16 – 19, 2017, Podolsk, Russia.
