Image postprocessing for rod bow assessment
Original language description
The nuclear fuel rod bow issue is entering the age of the attempt to understand it. Improvement in the technologies allowing tracking and measuring the rod bowing is supposed to set a light on its direct cause and results. Among methods for assessing the rod bow, the optical one i.e. postprocessing of images from visual inspection, is the most popular and mature one. The precision of the method can be disputable and depends on several factors. Increasing the precision to reach the maximum allowed by the equipment and auxiliary system working during fuel inspection will possibly result in benefit of more accurate data about the rod bow process.
