Corrosion resistance of the alloy 800H in static and flowing helium at 760 °C

  • Original language description

Research organi s ations and industrial enterprises in the Czech Republic are involved in activities associated with advanced helium cooled nuclear reactor type s VHTR and GFR. These activities are focused on the resistance of materials in the high temperature environment of a gas coolant a mongother things T he research infrastructure for these tests has been built f or this purpose . Among the materials tested is alloy 800H , which is certified for use in nuclear reactors up to 760 °C. Samples of this alloy were exposed to a helium environment containingtrace amounts of CO, CH 4 , H 2 , H 2 O and O 2 at a temperature of 760 °C for 1000hours. The experiments were performed in a static environment in the horizontal furnace's retort at a gas flow of around 0.3 g/h and a pressure of up to 8 bar, as well as in the high temperature helium loo p at a gas flow of 9000 10800 g/h and a pressure of 30 50 bar. The contribution contrasts the corrosive effects and changesin the tested alloy following exposure to the two above mentioned conditions.
