Technical report documenting development of testing flange joints using MMM method - TN02000012/7-V12 CANUT II
Original language description
The report summarizes the activities and results achieved in 2023 and 2024 in a project focused on assessing the condition of flange joints using the MMM method. The development and determination of the optimal MMM measurement was designed and carried out using the method on the stand of the flange joint of the electric heater of the volume compensator of the Temelín NPP (hereinafter EO KO). This part of the project was supported in cooperation with colleagues from ČEZ, as, Preditest s.r.o. and MICo servis s.r.o. The developed testing procedures were to be verified on other flange joints. The goal was to develop a measurement procedure using the MPK method for a flange and in such a way as to diagnose an unsatisfactory condition, which in most cases is characterized by the loosening of a bolt or group of bolts and the formation of a leak in the flange joint. Because the results of the MMM measurement method are capable of detecting a loose bolt with a probability of 50% and the transfer of the actual measurement from the laboratory to practice is unsatisfactory, changes to the R&D project were proposed: Ending the use of the MMM method to detect the development of loosening of flange joints. To develop a method for 3D scanning of flange bodies and bolts/screws with a measuring arm. Based on the EPRI recommendation (Assembling Gasketed Bolted Flange Joints Update of Report 3002008061), it is possible to measure bolt elongation using the UT method (ultrasonic method).
