Drbohlav J., Šalaková A., Borková M., Peroutková J., Bár V., Dráb V.: Hydrogels producing from whey and its derivatives by membrane processes. Poster MELPRO 2020, November 8-11.2020 Praque. In Book of Abstracts, MELPRO Conference 2020, s. 114, ISBN 978-80-907673-3-1, ISSN 2694-8958. Three poorly processable by-products such as acid whey, permeate from ultrafiltration of milk or whey and whey electrodialysis concentrate were analysed, found they can to be used for the production of hydrogels. The addition of hydrogels with binding water to the growing medium provide gradual release water for plants. The minerals contained in the raw material (whey), or substances added to the hydrogel, will released provide the plants nutrients. Hydrogels formed from these materials with carboxymethylcellulose or other thickener, not crosslinked or crosslinked with a suitable agent such as citric acid or urea, will be mixed with a relatively inert material such as crushed straw or peat to form a product which will added to the growing medium and will able repeatably bound and release water. This will improve the cultivation of the growing medium and improve crop production.
