  • Original language description

Optimized regeneration protocol is a prerequisite to apply biotechnological methods in various crop improvement programmes, including selections in vitro. The potential to regenerate plants de novo via (1)multiple shoot organogenesis as well as (2)somatic embryogenesis in faba bean and lupin was investigated. In faba bean regeneration of rooting shoots was achieved based on organogenesis from nodal segments, while somatic embryogenesis from calli was unsuccessful. In lupin, organogenesis resulted in multiple shoots, but without ability to root in all variants. Somatic embryos of lupin were developed , although they did not form further developmental stages. Differences were recorded in the response between Lupinus albus and L. angustifolius.
