PCR identification of toxigenic Bacillus cereus isolates from cow´s milk
Original language description
Incidence of DNA sequences related to toxin genes were studied in 60 isolates of the B. cereus from cow's milk samples using multiplex PCR. All the isolates harboured genes coded for Nhe and EntFM. The hbl genes were detected in 95 % of the isolates. Theisolates in our study in the most cases lack the hblA gene. On the other hand all the isolates carried genes nheA, nheB, nheC and entFM. The frequency of the bceT gene was 30.2% in the isolates. Besides, 60.3% of isolates carried the cytK gene (32% cytK1, 28.3% cytK2). Only 1.6 % of the analysed B. cereus isolates was the emetic type. Among all the tested isolates in this study, only one was emetic type, which suggested that emetic type of B. cereus is not predominant in raw cow's milk. Different toxigenic patterns of the analysed isolates indicated that the B. cereus population in cow's milk is diverse. In: Spore forming bacteria in food, Le Berre Media, Quimper, 2009.
