Effect of extruded rapeseed cake and extruded full-fat soybean in cows’ diet on casein fractions and amino acid profile of milk

  • Original language description

The aim of the study was to determine the effect of two protein supplements, i. e. extruded rapeseed cake and extruded full-fat soybean in cows’ diet on casein fractions and amino acid profile of milk. The experiment was carried out on four lactating Holstein cows as replicated Latin square in a double reversal design. The experiment was divided into four periods of 42 days consisting of a 21-day preliminary period and a 21-day experimental period. Cows were divided into two groups. The control group (R) was fed a diet based on extruded rapeseed cake while the experimental group (S) received a diet containing extruded full-fat soybeans. The dry matter intake did not differ between groups (P>0.05). Milk yield and yields expressed in 4% FCM and ECM were higher in S compared to R (P<0.01). The concentration of milk protein was higher in R than in S (P<0.05) while concentration of casein was similar in both groups being 2.53 and 2.55 g/100g in R and S, respectively (P>0.05). Concentration of kappa-casein was lower in R in comparison to S (P<0.05) and concentration of beta-casein tended to increase in the R group (P=0.089). Content of alpha-casein did not differ significantly (P>0.05). The concentration of individual amino acids in milk as well as the sum of essential and non-essential amino acids in both groups reached almost the same values (P>0.05).
