Diptera families on conventionally and reduced tilled alfalfa fields

  • Original language description

Altogether 3, 691 specimens of diptera representing 25 families were found on two alfalfa fields under two different management techniques: reduced and conventional tillage. Both sites were situated in South Moravia nr. village of Žabčice, on the schoolpremises MUAF in Brno. Five families were dominant, exceeding relative abundance of 5 %, viz Cecidomyiidae, Chloropidae, Sciaridae, Phoridae, and Sphaeroceridae. Dominant families comprised 87.1 % of all specimens found. Three out of five dominant families were more abundant on reduced tilled plot, viz Chloropidae, Sciaridae and Phoridae. On the other hand, Cecidomyiidae and Sphaeroceridae were more abundant on conventionally tilled plot. Further 4 families were subdominant, exceeded relative abundanceof 1 % and they covered 6.2 % of all specimens obtained. Milichiidae, Agromyzidae, Hybotidae and Chironomidae prevailed on reduced tillage system, only Drosophilidae were more abundant on conventional tillage system.
