The major arthropod groups on conventionally and reduced tilled alfalfa fields

  • Original language description

Altogether 33, 981 specimens representing 15 arthropod groups were found on two alfalfa fields under two different management techniques: reduced and conventional tillage. Both sites were situated in South Moravia nr. village of Žabčice, on the school premises MUAF in Brno. Five groups were dominant, exceeding relative abundance of 5 %, viz Hymenoptera, Diptera, Coleoptera, Collembola, and Sternorrhyncha. Dominant groups comprised 98 % of all specimens found. Both abundance and relative abundance of alldominant taxa and three out of five of both recedent and subrecedent taxa were higher on reduced tillage system than on conventional tillage system. Especially the abundance of the superdominant group (Sternorrhyncha, mostly aphids - important pests) and also Collembola were considerably higher on reduced tilled plot than on conventionally tilled plot. Coleoptera, Diptera and Hymenoptera were more equally distributed on both tillage systems, however, still more abundant on reduced tille
