Altogether 429 specimens of ground beetles (Coleoptera: Carabidae) representing 22 species were found by means of emergence traps on two differently managed alfalfa fields in southern Moravia. The higher amount of species was observed on reduced tilled plot (18 species) than on conventionally tilled plot (13 species). Slightly higher amount of specimens was observed on conventionally tilled plot (231) than on reduced tilled plot (198). Both Shannon-Wiever and Simpson indices of diversity were higher onreduced tilled plot than on conventionally tilled plot (0.90/0.81 and 5.44/4.29, respectively). Maturity index on both sites was very low indicating early successional (disturbed) conditions, however, on reduced tilled plot it was slightly higher than onconventionally tilled plot (0.025/0.020).
