Variations in serum ethanol concentrations during the treatment of acute methanol poisoning

  • Original language description

Fomepizole is the antidote of choice for toxic alcohol poisonings. Due to its dialysability, dosing is increased from every 12 to every 4 hours during intermittent dialysis (IHD). During continuous dialysis (CVVHD) blood flow is lower and data on elimination kinetics are lacking. We present a case of ethylene glycol poisoning where both dialysis modalities were used and fomepizole kinetics were evaluated.
