High temperature electrodialysis pilot electrodialysis
Original language description
Electrodialysis is desalination process, routinely used in aquatic, ecology and food industry. Recently, the recommended working temperature is 15 – 35 °C. This temperature limitation increases the demands on heat-exchange energy in some applications. The working temperature increases has influence in mass transport intensification, process-electricity saving and portfolio and application possibilities extensions. There were prepared samples of heterogeneous ion-exchange membranes for use in at high temperatures. These were laboratory tested for mechanical properties. They were used in construction of pilot ED module. The pilot module was long-term tested on Na2SO4 model solution in 2000 hour scale at 70 °C.
