Original language description
The goal of this work was to examine the effect of ion exchange membrane composition on performance of electrodialysis at an elevated temperature. Three types of ion exchange membrane with different composition were tested. A pair of default tests (positive and negative mode) was performed at temperature of 25 °C. These tests were compared with tests performed at an elevated temperature of 50 °C. Na2SO4 solution of concentration 20 g.l-1 was used as diluate, concentrate and electrode solution for all performed tests. All three types of membranes were able to perform electrodialysis at an elevated temperature without mechanical damage as melting or excessive swelling. The process of desalination was about 30 ? 50 % faster at an elevated temperature thanthe process of desalination at temperature of 25 °C.
