Properties of hollow fibers membranes for CO2 capture based on Poly(ether-block-amide) copolymers
Original language description
The high rate of carbon dioxide emissions at the atmosphere has been increased over the last decades leading to a high impact on the global warming. One of the main causes of such effect comes from emissions of flue gases from thermal power plants. Therefore, the use of separation membrane technology for CO2 capture has been widely explored. The final performance of such membranes technology is directly influenced by the membrane material, its structure, thickness, configuration and design of membrane modules. The top-down approach is one of the methods used to fabricate a specific membrane configuration. Tested hollow fibers for this purpose were made from and polysulfone (PSF) and polyacrylonitrile (PAN). In this work, the surface conditions of polymeric hollow fibers were examinated to improve an efficient gas separation, specifically for CO2/N2.
