The current problems of relations between Germany and Namibia
Original language description
Relations between Germany and Namibia are still heavily influenced by the colonialism. Germany was colonising the territory of the Southwest Africa till 1915 and this period is well known for genocides of the Hereros and the Namas. As part of the Scramble for Africa the German Empire came to what is now Namibia as a colonizing power in the 1880s, creating German South-West Africa. This piece of writing will focus on the latest political settlement of Federal Republic Germany with the difficult phase ofGerman colonialism. It is being shown now, how very difficult are the relations between the colonizer and the former colony. It is necessary to mention that Germany has made some reconciliation steps this year (which is a year of the 100th anniversary since the end of the German domination over Namibia) in order to deal with the history.
