  • Original language description

This chapter focuses on the subject of spatiality in sculptural work. It proposes, from which points of view or positions can spatiality be considered and how can be sculptural space described . Our consideration of the sculptural work's spatiality was initiated by Jan Patočka's brief text, Thoughts on Read's Book on Sculpture. In it, Patočka reviews the ideas of the English historian and theorist, Herbert Read, as expounded in The Art of Sculpture. In the first part of the paper, we are going to focuson Patočka's direction of criticism regarding Read's concept of sculptural work's spatiality; in the second and third part, we are going to deal with Patočka's own concept of sculptural work's spatiality.
