Original language description
Strategies of foreign language learning are one of current linguodidactic topics the concept of which is firmly embodied in a cognitive theory of learning. Cognitive psychology emphasizes that to solve any problem we can use different strategies and it perceives learning as a strategic activity which applies to foreign language learning in full extent. The present article deals with the definition of learning strategies and introduces genesis of the most important milestones in the field of scientific research of learning strategies. The crucial part of the text is devoted to the presentation of a research focused on the mapping of foreign language learning strategies of the students of secondary grammar school and other secondary schools in the Ústí Region.
