Evaluating the methodology for the individual risk assessment for staff in railway transport
Original language description
In cooperation with railway companies SBB and BLS, the Federal Office of Transport (FOT) developed a method for evaluating the acceptance of the individual risks to railway staff (Baeriswyl et al., 2013a; Slovak et al., 2012). Our aim was to evaluate the current approach of the individual risk assessment for the railway staff and to validate assumptions of the current method. In addition, we suggested several improvements of the current approach. Our approach is based on viewing the individual risk as a random variable and calculating the probability, that the overall individual risk is acceptable.
