  • Original language description

    The paper outlines a possibility of replacement of pumped-storage hydroelectric power plants with hydrogen energy storage units. The main control parameters of a hydropower plant and those of a hydrogen storage unit are presented in the first two chapters. The comparison is based on power flow control. The active power is controlled either by flow rate (pumped-storage water power plant), or by voltage (hydrogen storage unit). Hydropower plant produces reactive power easily with generator, hydrogen energy storage as a dc device needs a power conditioning system (DC/AC inverter and LC filter). The environmental aspects both kinds of energy storages are also discussed.
