Measuring Upper Extremity Loading in Passive Exoskeleton-Assisted Gait: A Case Study

  • Original language description

This study investigates upper extremity loading during exoskeleton-assisted walking with the UNILEXA passive exoskeleton using an instrumented platform walker. The goal was to assess upper limb weight-bearing and its implications for rehabilitation. Data were collected from two participants performing walking and standing tasks. During steady walking, the average vertical load on the walker was approximately 30% of body weight, while standing maneuvers showed peaks up to 90%. These results demostrate that, despite the passive nature of the UNILEXA exoskleleton, upper extremity loading remains within acceptable limits, suggesting its suitability for safe and effective rehabilitation.
