Properties of a mecnetorheological damper intended for the use in a suspended vehicle seat
Original language description
Magnetorheological dampers (MRD) enable very simple change of their damping force by control of the current to the coil which excites magnetic field in the magnetorheological fluid. However the changes of the damping force are lagging behind the actual cntrol input because of the time delay in gthe actual control and because of the transient properties of the MRD s hardware.Measurements of a commercially available MRD both in quasistatic and dynamic control states and their results aare shown. General euations representing the MRD s damping force development are derived. Results of simple computations showing thaat even relatively small time delays of the control and small time constants of the MRD s hardware can change quite significantly the responseof a suspended seat dynamic system aare discussed.
