    Synthetic jets are generated by the interactions within a train of vortex rings (or counter-rotating vortex pairs in two-dimensional geometry) . The train of the vortices is created during an oscillating process, when an oscillating force pushes and pulla fluid through an orifice (or a nozzle) from a cavity of an actuator. The synthetic jets have many perspektive applications such as control of primary flows, and can be a valuable alternative for cooling applications.
