    The article deals with measurements of linear changes of castings from Zn alloys during their solidification. For this purpose the measuring apparatus, which applies a dilatometer of Polish provenience, was made up. Dilatation curves Zn and Zn alloys were acquired during the casting process. In the case of Zn alloys the influence of chemical composition and metallurgical treatment (with the use of refining salts) on linear changes during solidification and on the dimension of shrinkage originating was observed.
