Common influence of roughness and temperature on overmolding of metal inserts

  • Original language description

Overmolding is an interesting alternative for saving assembly cost instead of other different types of linking two materials. Using of metal inserts in this technology is also very common, but normally without geometric linkage (special shape of insert or overmolded part to remove the degrees of freedom) there is no adhesion. In some cases is not possible to use the geometric linkage and following paper describes temperature of inserts, its roughness and processing parameters as some possibilities how to reach the adhesion without geometric linkage.
