Analysis of 3D fibrous layers of PCL and PVA for medical applications
Original language description
The aim of this article is to study fibrous structures of micro/nano-scale diameters. Such structures seem to be promising as material for use in biomedical applications as scaffolds which mime native extracellular matrix. Three-dimensional fibrous structures made of biodegradable polymers such as polycaprolactone and polyvinylalcohol were studied by means of selected methods (the method of transversal cross sections of materials immersed in polymeric matrices, the method of straight cross sections, cross sections made in liquid nitrogen, laser cutting). These methods were prepared for electron and atom force microscopy. Preparation of samples and their evaluation serve as a feedback for preparation of 3D fibrous structures from the point of view of fiber diameters as well as their arrangement.
