The Application of Liquid CO2 into the Die Casting Mould Tempering System
Original language description
Optimal temperature conditions of pressure casting mold in the course of the casting cycle ensures tempering system. This allows preheat the pressure casting mold to operating temperature prior to start up and maintain the thermal balance between the casting and the mold in the course of casting. The basic part of the mold tempering system consists of interconnected canals predominantly parallel to the parting plane, through which the tempering medium flows. Today commonly used tempering systems in which tempering medium is water or oil are not sufficient for heat removing from complex shapes and thin sections of molds. This leads to overheating molds at these locations, which is the cause of porosity in certain locations of the castings and shorteningthe life of the molds. That is why finding new ways of cooling of these critical spots. This article deals with monitoring the cooling effect of the liquid CO2, which was used as a supplement to the standard tempering system in die casti
