Numerical Model And Analysis of Multiaxial Stress on the Sewing Seam
Original language description
Determining the mechanical characteristics of technical textiles is particularly important because of their application in practice. If these products are used, there will be stress on the fabric and sewn seams; the most common case amongst them is mechanical tensile stress. In this study four different sizes of spun polyester and polyamide threads are used to sew the textile material (used for car seat cover) by a lockstitch sewing machine. By using the device made for measuring the multiaxial strain, the average values of seam strength are obtained. After the experiments, monitoring of sewing seam rupture place was done by using high speed camera and theoretical calculation of the stress was made by using Finite Element Method (FEM) in the software ANSYS. Based on the measurements of the individual components (strength of the material in different directions, threads in the loop) and entire assembly has been compiled to make a numerical model.
