The textbook is focused on the principles and selected methods of product innovation. The textbook contain 8 chapters which correspond with process stages of product innovation. They are: Intro-duction to the Innovation Engineering, Planning of product innovation, Concept creation, Archi-tecture of a product, Design of a product – Industrial design, Principles of detail design – DFX, Pro-totyping, Design review.There are introduced in more details methods as Quality Function Deployment (QFD), Theory of Inventive Problem Solving (TRIZ) (above all 40 inventive principles with a set of examples and Alt-shuller matrix for technical contradiction solving) for concept generating, decision making tables (screening and sorting methods) for concept selection, principles of decreasing complexity of tech-nical systems, tools of Industrial Design, principles of DFX for product development, techniques of Rapid Prototyping, methods of design review as Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA).
