The paper is focused on the innovation of a stand for a portable Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM), which is used for measurement and dimensional analysis of automobile bodies in the company Skoda Auto, a.s., Czech Republic. The main aim of innovation was to reduce the time of measurement and increase the productivity of the measurement process and data analyses. The paper describes the method of solving technical contradiction with the use of the TRIZ methodology. Altshuller?s table of 40 principles for solving technical contradiction and a super-system were used. Solving the contradiction significant simplified the drive and control elements of the CMM stand. The paper shows the design process of the CMM stand from the stage of concept generation tothe stage of the final CAD model, which will be used for the production of the CMM stand.
