The paper deals with a procedure how to measure electric energy consumption of electromagnetic valve train on experimental device. It describes the measuring method for camless actuation valve system of combustion piston engine. Part of this paper deals with the description of the control unit. The main aim of the electromagnetic valve control is to ensure independent valve timing. Power consumption was measured for the actuator itself and also for the control system. The damping coefficient was determined from the damping characteristic measurement. Electrical losses were measured at different stiffness of the actuator springs and at different coil voltages. Valve lift, velocity, acceleration, coil current, voltage and electric energy consumption are graphically shown.
