    Experimental equipment consists of three main parts: manipulator, extruder and heater. The manipulator is based on the “Uarm swift pro” robotic arm. It is an affordable, open-source robotic manipulator with four degrees of freedom and a maximum payload of half a kilogram. The manipulator enables the drawing of fibers by the movement of its arm between two arbitrarily selected points in 3D space. The polymer solution is extruded automatically from a micropipette at the tip of the robotic arm at the beginning of each drawing movement. A special effector for the robotic arm was designed for polymer extrusion. It is based on the so-called positive displacement pipette Microman from the company Gilson. For operation with a robotic manipulator, we designed a custom-made construction and combined it with the original components. The system uses various sizes of pipette tips to cover the broad range of required volumes. Micropipette tip replacement is carried out automatically in our device. This allows experiments to use multiple liquids without any risk of their mutual contamination. The design enables the delivery of droplet volumes with dosing increments of 0.01 µl. Using different pipette tips it is possible to determine the volume range for a specific application (1-1000 µl). Also, we designed a special heater for the pipette tip, including all necessary electronics and temperature feedback, custom-made for this specific application. As a result, our device can now use heat to change the rheological properties of polymeric melts and solutions.
