COMPARISON OF STANDARD AND NEW VERSION OF MEASURING MECHANICAL LOSSES BY MOTORING INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE
Original language description
The paper deals with the standard and new method of determining mechanical losses by motoring ICE (internal combustion engine). Both methods are used to assess the effect of various design changes to determine the contribution of individual components and engine lubrication techniques. The standard method is to motoring the ICE without combustion. In this method, the main drawback is the lower loading on the piston and crank mechanism (only by compression pressure). This shortcoming is eliminated by a new variant of ICE motoring, also without combustion but with cylinder pressure, as in real engine operation. This variant has demonstrated both the functional reliability of the device for adjusting the cylinder pressures of the motoring engine and the benefits of the new motoring method in terms of new knowledge of the dependencies under investigation. This paper presents a view of the processes in the engine cylinder during standard and new methods of motoring in terms of blow-by and blow-in in steady-state measurement mode.
