Decoupling anisochronic internal model controllers for MIMO systems with state delays
Original language description
The paper is motivated by theoretical problems arising during the design of the control system of carding machines. It focuses on controllers of MIMO time- delay systems with both state and control delays. Systems of this class cannot be controlled by multivariable Smith predictors and there is a considerable lack of practically applicable alternative approaches. However, a suitable controller design method that is both robust and practicably applicable can be based on the extension of the internal-model control approach. The paper outlines the design of internal model controllers for this class of time-delay systems. A common feature of the proposed controllers is the application of both delayors and integrators in their final implementation, resulting in a better compensation of infinite dimensional process dynamics. The application potential of this approach is demonstrated in an illustrative example with a benchmark system.
