Dependability in safety engineering
Original language description
Probability methods for risk assessment play important role at safety engineering. They can be successfully used in chemical industry only if significant amount of input information about component failure probabilities and relevant system response to component failures is disposable. Many techniques and tools are used for this purpose in dependability branch. Data are foundation for next reliability analyses and safety assessments of manufacturing devices and processes in chemical industry. Dependability and safety are two different, but near tasks. Dependability is concerned to ensure better ability of device function. Safety assessment of a chemical plant is concerned to reduction of negative consequences connected with device operation. In both cases, the evaluated level (dependability and safety) of equipment depends on functionality of its components. Improvement or degradation of component functionality (reliability) affects to improve or degrade reliability or safety of equipme
