Příspěvek se zabývá problematikou vzdělávání v oboru bezpečnostního inženýrství z pohledu potřebných znalostí ze spolehlivosti. Definuje spolehlivost a její vztah k bezpečnosti, dále pak tématické okruhy znalostí potřebných pro bezpečnostního inženýra -systémy managementu, matematické základy spolehlivosti, možnosti použití kvalitativních a semikvantitativních metod, analytické nástroje, závislost bezpečnosti na monitoringu a údržbě atd.
