Induction motor vibration diagnostics with the use of stator current analysis
Original language description
In this paper, a non-traditional approach for induction motor mechanical fault detection is proposed. The possibility of the extension of stator current demodulation methods will be evaluated experimentally. To this time, demodulation methods were used almost only for IM fault diagnostic. This novel approach is based on using the same demodulation methods for other purposes. Two areas are of interest are described: the detection of unbalance connected to the IM shaft and bearing fault detection. Accelerometers are usually the sensor of choice for this application. The following work compares the traditional methods, which are using accelerometers as sensors, with the results obtained by IM stator current analysis.
